Artist’s Statement

Most of the time, I draw whatever I feel like drawing and see where it takes me. I may start with a random image without knowing the whole meaning yet. The idea usually becomes clearer while I work. Sometimes the finished piece has a story or symbol behind it, and sometimes I just wanted to make something that looks good.

I use pen and ink a lot because I like the amount of detail I can create with it. Every mark stays on the page, so I have to slow down and think about what I am doing. I like having that control, but I do not want all of my work to feel too planned or predictable.

Right now, I am trying to improve my anatomy, color, environments, and storytelling. I also want to experiment with more materials and take ideas further without overthinking where they have to end up.
