Butterfly and Flowers Sketch began without a plan, reference, or larger idea. I opened my sketchbook and let the drawing develop on its own. I was not trying to make the butterfly or flowers completely accurate, and there was no single technical problem I was attempting to solve. That lack of planning is what matters about it. The organic shapes, patterns, and small details appeared naturally because I was drawing without deciding what the finished image needed to prove. Most of my larger work is slow and controlled, so this sketch shows what happens when I stop overthinking and allow the image to build itself.
