Dancer's Eyes is about the love and conflict I feel with dance. One eye reflects a female dancer and the form, beauty, and grace people usually connect with dance. The other reflects a male dancer, and I made that side of the face slightly darker because being a male dancer can make me feel separated from a dance world dominated by female dancers. I wanted the face to seem calm at first, then feel more divided the longer someone looked at it. The dancers are reflections, but they also act like two experiences trapped inside the same person. I used controlled stippling and a small value shift rather than an obvious split because the conflict is not always visible from the outside.
