Metroman is a hand-built ceramic bust based on the character from Megamind. I chose him because his exaggerated face, hairstyle, expression, and costume seemed fun to translate into three dimensions while still keeping the character recognizable. The ears were the hardest part because they were small and delicate. I had to shape them evenly and attach them without crushing or distorting them. After building the form, I glazed and fired the sculpture. Working from an existing character gave me a different problem than inventing one: I had to decide which features were essential enough that the sculpture would still read as Metroman after changing from animation into clay.
