Snake Pot is a hand-built ceramic vessel designed to look as if one continuous snake is moving through the pot, with its head emerging from one side and its tail leaving the other. I wanted the animal and vessel to feel connected rather than looking like a snake had simply been placed on the surface. The hardest part was sculpting the head. It was very small, but it still needed enough structure for the eyes, mouth, and face to remain readable. After building the form, I glazed and kiln-fired it. The strange part of the piece comes from not knowing whether the pot contains the snake or has become part of its body.
