Cliff of Inevitability is about something reaching its end while parts of it are still trying to survive. I used nature because I did not want the idea to become too literal. Most of the trees have already been cut down, the cliff is breaking apart, and the last large tree is still standing, but it does not feel safe. I stippled the ground with Micron pens to make it rough and eroded, then tested spiral hatching on the tree so the bark would feel twisted and aged. The empty space matters just as much as the land. It isolates the cliff and makes the remaining tree look as if it is hanging over nothing, with nowhere left to go.
