First Stippling Work is a 2023 sketchbook study from a photo reference and the first time I ever tried stippling. I was trying to understand how to build form with dots instead of normal shading. Looking back, the stippling feels much messier than how I work now, and I used different size Micron pens in a way I probably would not use today. But that is why this piece matters as process work. It shows the beginning of the technique that became a major part of my drawing style, and it makes the growth in my newer pen-and-ink work much easier to see.
