Infested by Inaction is a darker interpretation of slothfulness. The subject has done nothing for so long that the body has died, withered, and been overtaken by worms. I wanted to show the final consequence of complete inaction instead of another figure who only looked tired. I began directly with oil paint on a blank canvas without making a preliminary sketch. That let the skull, worms, and composition develop while I worked, and the process felt more open than planning every shape first. I chose a green and blue palette because it made the decay feel stranger and more unnatural. The image turns slothfulness from a passive feeling into something that has already finished destroying the body.
