Overtaken by Slothfulness shows a figure slowly disappearing because it has stopped doing anything. I did not want slothfulness to look like simple tiredness. I wanted it to feel like something that gradually removes a person until almost nothing is left. The white body and smoke-like edges make the figure look ghostlike and partially transparent, while the black tears show that it is still aware of what is happening. I used only black, white, and gray acrylic paint so the body could blend into the space instead of feeling solid. The hardest part was balancing transparency with structure. If the figure faded too far, the pose disappeared; if it stayed too solid, the idea stopped working.
